Where should you stay on Isabela?
For a first land-based visit, stay in Puerto Villamil on southern Isabela. Choose a central address if you will spend most days on excursions and want easy access to restaurants. Choose the town beachfront if time at the hotel and beach is part of the trip. A remote-sounding Isabela address is not automatically a better base: western-island cruise sites are a different journey from Puerto Villamil.
The useful comparison is central streets versus beachfront, then the exact room category. La Casa de Marita, for example, sells oceanfront, garden-view and standard rooms; booking the hotel name alone does not buy the same outlook or room position. Iguana Crossing: compare the room view, not only the hotel
Iguana Crossing is on Avenida Antonio Gil in Puerto Villamil, facing the shore. Its own room list separates Ocean View Room with Balcony, King Ocean View, Junior Suite and Master Suite from King Room Volcano View and Twin Room Volcano View.
Choose it as a named beachfront-area option when you want to spend time looking out to sea. If that view is the reason for paying more, reserve the stated ocean-view category; a volcano-view room is a different purchase. A balcony is explicit in some categories, not a feature to assume for every room. The hotel’s promotional starting prices are not comparable date-specific quotes, so they are not used here as nightly budget estimates.

La Casa de Marita describes itself as a beachfront boutique hotel. Its official accommodation list includes King Oceanfront, Queen Garden View, Twin Garden View and standard categories. The Standard Twin description places those rooms in front of the hotel entrance with a shared garden.
This is useful if you want to compare a beachfront property without assuming every room fronts the beach. Request the exact category and its position relative to the main building. For a family, compare the actual bed arrangement and occupancy allowance rather than assuming that a suite name guarantees space for children.

The passenger-boat pier is outside Puerto Villamil. Galapagos Transfers lists Isabela–Santa Cruz departures at 06:00 and 15:00 and asks passengers to be there at least 45 minutes early, checked on 24 October 2026. For the early boat, arrange the hotel-to-pier vehicle the previous day; do not plan to solve luggage transport while checking out.
Reserve any breakfast box and settle the bill before that early departure if your accommodation can provide them. Those are arrangements to make, not services included by default. If arriving by inter-island air instead, give the hotel the airfield and flight details rather than asking for a ferry pickup.
